Hemorrhagic stroke is one of the most severe forms of acute cerebrovascular disorders, causing significant systemic changes in hemodynamics, neuroendocrine regulation, metabolic processes, and inflammatory responses. The investigation of structural and functional alterations in the pancreas occurring in the context of acute brain injury is of particular scientific interest. Age-related morphological remodeling of both the exocrine and endocrine compartments of the pancreas, as well as changes in the immunohistochemical expression of cellular markers in hemorrhagic stroke, require comprehensive and in-depth investigation.
Objective: To evaluate age-related pathomorphological and immunohistochemical changes in the pancreas in hemorrhagic stroke, including the condition of its exocrine and endocrine components, the microcirculatory system, the severity of inflammatory processes, and mechanisms of cellular regulation.
Materials and Methods: A comprehensive pathomorphological examination of pancreatic tissue samples obtained during autopsy from deceased patients with confirmed hemorrhagic stroke is planned. The specimens will be classified into age groups, taking into account sex, comorbidities, and disease duration. Histological examination will include hematoxylin and eosin staining, followed by analysis of acinar structures, islets of Langerhans, the vascular network, stromal elements, and signs of dystrophy, necrosis, and inflammation. Immunohistochemical analysis may focus on determining the expression of Ki-67, caspase-3, CD34, insulin, and glucagon to assess cellular proliferation, apoptosis, microcirculation, and the functional state of the endocrine apparatus.
Expected Results: Comprehensive morphological and immunohistochemical examination is expected to characterize age-related patterns of pancreatic parenchymal injury, identify alterations in the microcirculatory network, quantitatively assess dystrophic and inflammatory processes, and establish differences in the expression of the investigated markers across age groups. Correlations between morphological changes, patient age, stroke severity, and the presence of comorbidities are expected to be investigated.
Conclusion: The investigation of age-related pathomorphological and immunohistochemical characteristics of the pancreas in hemorrhagic stroke represents a relevant area of research in pathological anatomy. Comprehensive analysis of morphological and cellular alterations may contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying systemic organ injury in acute cerebrovascular diseases and provide a basis for developing additional criteria for pathomorphological assessment.
