EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF IMPROVED MINIMALLY INVASIVE COMPLEX SURGICAL METHODS IN THE TREATMENT OF LIVER ABSCESSES

Abstract

A liver abscess is a condition requiring urgent surgical intervention in abdominal surgery, which significantly worsens the course of the underlying disease and the patient’s condition.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of improved minimally invasive methods for the comprehensive surgical treatment of liver abscesses.

Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 83 patients diagnosed with “liver abscess” who were treated at the Department of Abdominal Surgery and Treatment of Surgical Complications of Diabetes at the Multi­disciplinary Clinic of Tashkent State Medical University between 2019 and 2026. All patients underwent minimally invasive drainage of the liver abscess in combination with VAC therapy, catheterization of the celiac trunk, and cath­eterization of the hepatic arteries.

Results: All patients participating in the study underwent a comprehensive examination, and a minimally invasive drainage procedure for liver abscesses was performed under ultrasound guidance. The use of a negative-pressure VAC system in combination with catheterization of the celiac trunk and the proper hepatic arteries, as well as the administration of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory therapy. -Therapy incorporating advanced, comprehen­sive, minimally invasive surgical techniques, including superselective catheterization of the proper hepatic artery, yielded positive results.

Conclusion: The use of an advanced, minimally invasive, comprehensive surgical technique—namely, the combined use of superselective catheterization of the proper hepatic artery and VAC therapy in the abscess cavities—made it possible to prevent postoperative complications and avoid traumatic surgical intervention.
