EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TOTAL THYROIDECTOMY AND THYROID TISSUE AUTOTRANSPLANTATION IN THE SURGICAL TREATMENT OF DIFFUSE TOXIC GOITER

This scientific article evaluates the effectiveness of total thyroidectomy and thyroid tissue autografting meth­ods in the surgical treatment of diffuse toxic goiter. The results of the operation were analyzed in 65 (24.7%) patients treated with a diagnosis of diffuse toxic goiter and who underwent thyroid tissue autotransplantation (TTE+AT) in combination with total thyroidectomy. The results obtained showed that the choice of surgical volume should be based on individual clinical, hormonal, and immunological criteria. Autotransplantation with thyroidectomy led to a reduction in postoperative hypothyroidism. Thus, the results obtained showed that the surgical treatment of diffuse toxic goiter (TTE+AT) has high clinical efficacy in the radical elimination of thyrotoxic syndrome.
