This cross-sectional study compared the cardiometabolic profile of age-matched patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with and without a history of coronary artery stenting (38 vs 20 patients, aged 50–70 years), using the triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index and the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP). No significant differences were found between groups for the TyG index (9.86 ± 0.74 vs 9.82 ± 0.89, p = 0.858), AIP (0.35 ± 0.29 vs 0.31 ± 0.43, p = 0.629), HbA1c, or other metabolic parameters (all p > 0.20). An elevated TyG index (≥ 9.0) was equally common in both groups (88.2% vs 80.0%). The cardiometabolic burden was comparably high regardless of stenting status, suggesting that pronounced insulin resistance and atherogenic dyslipidemia are established early in T2DM rather than being specific to advanced, stent-requiring coronary disease.
