Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is currently considered one of the most common chronic liver diseases and is closely associated with the increasing prevalence of obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and other cardiometabolic disorders. Unlike the previously used term “non-alcoholic fatty liver disease” , the modern concept of MASLD primarily focuses on the presence of hepatic steatosis in combination with metabolic risk factors. This approach reflects the evolving understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease and emphasizes the central role of metabolic dysfunction in the development of liver injury
