Abstract.
Purpose. To demonstrate the effectiveness of endovascular treatment of a ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm by endovascular occlusion of the aneurysm and the affected arterial segment.
Material and methods. A 41-year-old female patient with a partially thrombosed fusiform dissecting aneurysm of the V4 segment of the right vertebral artery measuring 10×9×8 mm complicated by subarachnoid hemorrhage was treated. Magnetic resonance angiography and digital subtraction angiography were performed. Endovascular coil occlusion of the affected segment was carried out.
Results. Complete occlusion of the aneurysm was achieved without perioperative complications. Follow-up imaging confirmed durable exclusion of the aneurysm from the circulation.
Conclusion. Endovascular occlusion of the aneurysm and the affected arterial segment remains a reliable and effective treatment option for ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms.
