Abstract

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive analysis of bone mineral density (BMD) in 930 women over 55 years of age in the Uzbek population using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). The methodology of densitometric studies using standard protocols (lumbar spine, proximal femur) and an extended program for total body composition analysis (total body) is described in detail. Age and regional patterns of decline in T-score, BMD, and BMC indicators were revealed. It has been proven that in patients with overweight and severe degenerative-dystrophic lesions of large joints, BMD assessment and local analysis of the epimetiphyseal zones of the knee joint possess high diagnostic accuracy, allowing timely diagnosis of osteoporosis and verification of sarcopenic changes.
