Abstract

The term chronic hepatitis refers to an inflammatory liver disease with metabolic changes accompanied by fibrous and necrotic lesions of tissues and their cells without disruption of lobule structures or signs of portal hypertension. The problem of chronic hepatitis is also significant due to its significant impact on the patient's dental status, the prevalence of periodontal and oral mucosal diseases, and the high level of need for dental care.

The purpose of this review was to study the condition of the oral cavity with all its structures in chronic hepatitis based on literature review data.

According to some researchers, periodontal diseases play a special role in the dental status of chronic diffuse liver diseases, with a predominance of moderate and severe periodontitis accompanied by increased bleeding and cyanosis of the alveolar process mucous membrane. Precancerous conditions, leukoplakia, and dysplasia often predominate among diseases of the oral mucosa.

Conclusion: The negative combination of liver pathology and dental diseases is exacerbated by the disruption of systemic and local immunity, the functional interconnections of oral cavity structures, and the disruption of the physiology of the neuroreflective connection of oral cavity organs with the entire body, which inevitably leads to multifactorial homeostatic disorders.
