CYP2E1 POLYMORPHISM, NUTRITIONAL RISK, AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN ALCOHOL-RELATED LIVER CIRRHOSIS

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders affecting women of reproductive age and is considered a leading cause of infertility. Recent studies have demonstrated that different PCOS phenotypes have varying effects on reproductive outcomes and the effectiveness of in vitro fertilization (IVF). According to the Rotterdam criteria, phenotypes A, B, C, and D differ significantly in hormonal profile, metabolic disturbances, oocyte and embryo quality, and implantation rates [1]. Hyperandrogenic phenotypes are generally associated with more severe endocrine and metabolic abnormalities, which may adversely affect ovarian response to controlled stimulation and reduce IVF success rates [2].
This article reviews current evidence on the impact of PCOS phenotypes on IVF outcomes. It analyzes the clinical, hormonal, and metabolic characteristics of different phenotypes and their association with the number and quality of retrieved oocytes, embryo development, implantation, and clinical pregnancy rates. The findings suggest that a phenotype-based approach, including individualized ovarian stimulation protocols and timely correction of metabolic and hormonal disorders, can improve the effectiveness of assisted reproductive technologies and optimize reproductive outcomes in women with PCOS.
